This blog tells stories about my life and my journey to pursue what I learn from God’s word and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I am the President/Founder of H.I.S. BridgeBuilders based in Dallas, TX. I am passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ, my family, and serving urban communities around the world. I have been married to my wife Laura for over 25 years and have 4 amazing kids! If you have any other questions about me personally or my non-profit, please email Mary Anderwald, at manderwald@hisbb.org. Thanks for reading the stories about how the Lord is working through my life. I look forward to reading your comments and feedback! God Bless.
Mike, Praise God for this good news. We will continue to pray for your continued healing as well as praising Him for all the wonderful things He does through your ministry.I know He has plans for you and all who will honor Him and give Him glory. The beautiful thing is, we don’t see some of the wonderful things that happen to people around us while we are going through trials. Faith is built on things we do not see. But during this time I see your faith loud and clear and am amazed by your love of our Lord and Savior.Thank you for blessing me with your gifts. The Lord is not done with you yet He has many years of service planned for you.I will also pray for the family who I know love you and are your biggest supporters.
Mary: What is Mike’s medical debt? Did he have insurance?
We saw him this a.m. at PBChurch. When we sell our house in March we would like to help out. God is the Great Physician! Blessings, Anne Holland 214.906.7652

Hi Mike, it’s so good to hear about your cure. I now suddenly realize that I need to change my efforts from marketing my book “Does God Give Us More than We Can Bear?”, to my talking to as many people about their illnesses, and about the power of having hope and faith in God as to the possibility of extending and/or improving their lives and using my cure as an example. I have already had a lot of people come to me or calling me asking for help and info. Several people at Prestonwood, including Jean Ziglar, have told me recently that they love the ministry that I am building. I had not even realized that that might be happening. But now I understand God’s plan in my becoming the only person ever cured of pulmonary fibrosis to-date in order that I reach out to as many people as possible through a public forum.
Dear Mike,
I heard from my parents, who are still attending Prestonwood, of your illness last year. I wanted to contact you then but thought better of it due to the influx of mail you must have received at the time; but I was praying for your recovery.
Looking briefly through the website, I am overjoyed at what the Lord has done through your life and through the ministry of Bridgebuilders. May He continue to bless all whom you touch!
Sincerely,
Drew Goodman
Hi Mike,
When I read your comments about not fearing the out come of all that is going on in the world today, it gave me chill. You are right on about trusting in the Lord because we know the end of the story. We don’t look in the past because that is where satan lives and we don’t look to the future because it is not here yet, but we can look at this day, this moment because that is where God is. We have the very moment to do our best for the Lord where ever He has placed us. This is Hope…….
Thank you for being a great servent and witness for the one we love….Jesus Christ.

There isn’t a week that goes by, Mike, that I don’t rejoice in Christ for you and celebrate that the Church of Dallas has a model, or the poor such an advocate, as yourself. I am continually humbled by boldness of your faith and your obedience to the Lord. May you, Laura and the kids rest this day in the pleasure of God.
Psa. 32:7 You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
Dear Mike and family,
I hope this very hot weather doesn’t get you down. It just really is hot.
Mike we heard about your son and are so thrilled about your new daughter-in-love. She must be wonderful and a lovely addition to the family!!
I do hope that your biopsy turns out okay. We are praying for your complete healing and remembering you as we pray.
I just wonder if you knew R. B. and Bettye Baker. That was my brother-in-law and sister who were at PBC for a while when we were in the old building.
R.B. had Parkinson’s disease and died the first week of June. Bettye, at the same time, had alzheimer’s and died last Sunday, the 25th. She died 7 weeks after R.B. I knew Bettye would want to be with R.B. and not here on this earth by herself so we are all happy that she has gone to
heaven! We can’t wish she was back because we knew how she felt about R. B. That is so sweet. I’m sure Laura feels the same way.
Please let us know when you get the test results. We will want to know about them.
We miss you and all of your family.
In Christian Love,
Gene and Judy Lowe
Mr. Fechner,
I had to let you know that hearing you speak tonight, the faith you shared, was such a blessing… In His providence, he brought me to Prestonwood on a Saturday. I am actually from California, and am here in Texas relearning what it means to have complete faith in Him. Enough about me though. I needed to take a moment to just thank you for exemplifying what a Godly life looks like. God has definitely used you to reach into the hearts of men… and sir, you have reached into mine. You reminded me tonight that no matter what the world tells me, my time here isn’t up until He decides, and on that day… I am going to paradise. Thank you Mr. Fechner, I don’t think we recognize the impact we have on others. I am instantly praying for you, and it is my hope you would do the same for me. Your prayers seem to hold a little extra weight with the Big Guy.
Until His Glorious return,
Aaron
Mike –
I just listened to your Jesus First message and I am so moved to hear the good work that God is doing in you. It was evident over 30 years ago in Hawaii – that you would grow into a powerful voice for Him. Now to see the evidence of that is a wonderful thing.
Visiting Hawaii over the summer for my oldest daughter’s graduation trip (for the first time since we graduated!) brought back many happy memories.
My prayers for your continued health and healing, for the work you have yet to do, and for your family.

Hello Mike and Laura and family and friends,
Please know that Charlotte and I are lifting all of you up before God’s throne of grace…
If I was there I would sing for you…..but I have a song in my heart for you.
Know that we love you and will be in touch….John and Charlotte
Hello Mike: I saw a note on Mary Anderwald’s Facebook site about one of your upcoming chemo treatments. I’m confident that God will see you through this with a full recovery! Reading how you continue to touch people’s lives as you move about the hospital is a real joy. They are lucky to have you as a patient at that hospital.
My mother was diagnosed with cancer this summer. She had a prayer chain that was a source of strength and support to both her and my dad. By the end of 2011 she was declared “cancer free” without having any radiation or surgery. I’m confident that you will experience a similar miracle healing. Please send my best to your beautiful bride, Laura.
God Bless You.

Mike Fechner (founder and CEO His Bridgebuilders)-
I, loved your cancer blog.
These chemo ward messages and blogs are great. They are for and to, teaching me, about however to treat and think about myself, as well, in God. This is in the ways, fitting and pleasing for Jesus Christ. These, are the “Good News”, and Gospel, and messages, for God. These are fully, in, and readily good and new, and, fully prepared, of God. Always, to know of and about, and to, understand myself, and more about God: there are messages in the Holy Bible. These, are the grace and peace, of Jesus Christ, and what are all about, Mike Fechner, and is the blog, the news, and these, businesses of HIS Bridgebuilders.
I, fully understand this at, “HIS Brigebuilders”, that I have to, consider you a great leader and, a great pastor, in all of the world. Sometimes, the world and its messages, have to start somewhere, and, have to start sometimes, and this is now. This could spread all over the world. And, what is this, but a moral standard, and a political duty, in, the Chemo Ward, of the church. Long live, HIS Bridgebuilders, and its moral response, and its extreme duties, around the community, and, in its wealth in heritage, a promise, that I will keep. This is to always pray, for the sick and needy.
I, have always wanted, a leader, and a boss. This kind of person, could be a friend, and, could be a greater man, and lastly, could be greater leader, on earth. Well, at HIS Bridgebuilders, we thank you for your work, and still thank God for all of yours. At least I do, thank God, and thank friends, and family. I have been inspired still, to also, do a real blog, on a real person, known as me. This is also for, God. You, obviously have inspired many people, to do, greater things, for the work and the glory, of God. I, have fought many battles, with you, and have always known one thing. This is to serve God and your fellow man. This is always for us all.
Also, if God permits, I will go and visit you, in time, from in your Chemo Ward, with Ty Miller (my father), and, with my family.

Mike,
I have been praying for you and will Pray with intensity this Thursday. I also had Brain Surgery on a Thursday in 1988. Be encouraged, especially in times of weakness. God used me at my weakest moment to speak with a woman with Brain cancer. She later told me how the peace of God filled her. I had been physically, mentally, and emtionally drained and asked God to speak to this woman thru me and He did.
We became friends and Pam and I went to dinner with her and her husband a year later. She was cancer free and had hair.
Many more will come to Faith in Christ because of your testimony.
You will walk Grace down the isle.
You will still be shopping at Nordstrom 50 years from now.
Remember that it is impossible to frustrate the Plans of God.
Praying for you Mike and Laura. God bless you for shining Christ’s love through you on to us. We love you.
